Here at Tulip Salon Spa, we are constantly seeking out cutting edge in trends for our gorgeous guests. That’s why we sent our Master Stylist/Color Educator James Myles to the Aveda Geo Prism class in DC. If you’ve been in James’ chair, you know he is not only a total joy to be around, but he is also crazy passionate about his work, as evidenced by his extensive education in Color, Cutting, Texture, Makeup, Trends, and Hair Color Education (just to name a few). So the Geo Prism class was the perfect next step for him. The class taught stylists how to deliver hyper-customized results unique to each guest’s color, face shape, hair texture, lifestyle, and personal style. We sat down with James to hear about the secret sauce that makes every Tulip guest look so uniquely fabulous.

SO, WHAT IS GEO PRISM?
Geo Prism is a cut and color class taught by renowned Aveda educators Alberto Davis and Susan Ford (if those names don’t sound familiar, just take our word for it—they’re a big deal). The goal of the class is to learn how to create bold, striking looks through strategic cuts and prismatic color. The end result? A three-dimensional look that shifts when viewed from different angles. Yes, please!

STYLING IS AN ART
What makes Tulip stylists able to deliver killer cuts and colors? They are artists! When stylists combine their artistic and creative abilities with their technical knowledge and years of education, the magic happens. That’s why we always encourage our stylists to nurture the artist within to keep things fresh, innovative, and creative—and one way to do this is to step outside of your comfort zone. And according to James, a big component of the Geo Prism class was being reminded to do just this. Alberto encouraged all the students to have fun, let loose and really let their inner artist shine.
